Nearly 40 Weeks

Thursday I had my 39.5 week OB appointment.  When I am pregnant, I have to have a mid morning snack or else I will very reliably have a “crash” around noon where I feel faint, hot, shaky, and desperate to eat.  Well, I worked Thursday and completely forgot my snack and had one of those crashes when I arrived at the doctor’s office.  I tried to hide it and just get through it to eat a snack afterwards, but they found that my blood pressure was high and Joshua’s heart rate was low, so they fed me :)  It was embarrassing, but I always wondered how real those episodes were and now I know.

While his heart rate was low, it was strong and steady and he’s been moving well since, so all is well.  Measurements and weight gain were fine, too.  Not surprisingly, I measured at nearly 5 cm which always wow’s my OB, but seems to be par for the course for me.  She did talk with me about induction for a couple non serious medical reasons, but after my experience with Josiah I really don’t want to go down that road.  We’ll wait on Mr. Joshua to decide when he’s good and ready to make his appearance.  I’m hoping for Saturday night for practicality purposes, but my OB is rooting for Monday so she can deliver him.  Time will tell!
