Lowry Park Zoo

The zoo was offering a day of deeply discounted rates.  Since I have family nearby and memories of going as a kid, we loaded up and headed that way.  Savannah served as our 4th kid and tagged along.

We got to spend some time with Gram since we spent the night there and headed to the zoo the next morning.  Somehow I remember it being a pretty small zoo and I didn’t figure it would be overly busy…but I was wrong.  It was pretty crazy, but we had a good time anyway.  It made for a very long day to head all the way back to Gainesville afterward, but at least the kids slept.

Fun at Gram’s:

Happy At Three Months!

107 - CopyI slacked in taking pictures of our day to day life this month, but I did do two “photo shoots” with Joshua and of course I can’t ever narrow them down.  I hope you like them!

Joshua is growing so quickly and is the happiest guy around.  Each of us love the newest little addition to our family and we’re smitten each time he smiles at us.  He breaks into a big open mouthed smile every time he makes eye contact with someone and it is impossible not to return it.  This sweet guy has had a pretty eventful third month.

Here are some smiles:052 - Copy095 - Copy096 - Copy

Joshua learned to roll from his belly to his back two days after turning two months old.  He’s also getting good at grabbing and holding little toys.  While he hasn’t become attached to it, he still enjoys a good thumb sucking, though he’s not too picky and will happily suck his other fingers instead.  He still prefers the paci.

In the week after turning two months old, Joshua  started lengthening his night sleep and then he slept through the night for at least two weeks, all while napping perfectly in the day.  It was blissful!  Then came vaccines and a growth spurt.  Now most of his naps only last 45 minutes and he wakes once to eat at night.  Now that I’m spoiled, I am struggling and looking forward to a return to the old routine.

We waited until the rest of the family was healthy to have Joshua’s two month vaccines, so he was about two weeks late.  He cried inconsolably for a few minutes, then took a wonderful nap, then cried for an extended time until I gave him Tylenol.  Poor guy!

Another cute smile series:100 - Copy110 - Copy127 - Copy

While we admittedly would like to see him with his eyes closed a little more (ha ha), we love this little guy and love the way his eyes light up with his smile.  He’s working on giving real belly laughs, but he’s not quite there yet, despite Jacob’s best efforts.  He has brought us so much joy and we love watching our big boys love on our baby boy.  We can’t wait to watch him grow though part of me hopes it goes slowly!

138 - CopyLooking forward to the fourth month with this cutie!

It’s Just You And Me Now

When Josiah started going to school before Joshua was born, Elijah used to feel left out not getting to ride in Daddy’s truck every morning and I felt a bit left out because I missed out on dropping my little man off on his new adventure.  I started a new habit of turning to Elijah after they had gone and saying, “it’s just you and me now, Elijah,” in efforts to make our time sound more special to him.

Due to Elijah being a bit clingy to me in those months, I worried how he’d do when Joshua arrived.  As Joshua’s arrival grew closer I realized that I couldn’t make that statement anymore and that it might upset Elijah to have to share that time, so I stopped saying it.  Well, I Elijah just picked up where I left off and said, “it’s just you and me now, Mommy,” every morning.  It was too sweet, but I started thinking of a way to change things to include Joshua in a positive way.

I shouldn’t have put any thought into it because once Joshua arrived, Elijah changed it to “it’s just you and me and our babies now, Mommy.”  Too cute.  He, of course, was referring to “Bear”.  In the last few months, Elijah has renamed his baby “Gouda” after a baby mouse (think gouda cheese) on an episode of his favorite show “Imagination Movers,” which we thought was so cute when he first said it.  Now every morning one of us says, “it’s just you and me and our babies, Joshua and Gouda.”  :)  I love my sweet little red head!
