Playdate with Henry at the Splash Park!

102 - Copy103 - Copy104 - Copy105 - Copy109 - CopyElijah had fixated on this girl following her around and always getting right in front of her to look in her face and I didn’t know why, but then I saw him move a lock of her hair that had been hanging in her eye out of the way, then he left her alone.  What a sweet, helpful gentleman :)  He really does have a sweet, tender side.

My work party at the springs:

121 - Copy125 - Copy128I hate cold water and I’m not a good swimmer, so I’m so thankful for a husband who is willing to do swimming duty with the boys while I sit on the sidelines.  I spared myself the cold and my coworkers the sight of my second trimester pregnant self in a bathing suit :)

Luke’s birthday party at the pool.  Apparently I didn’t take many pictures.

First family day of the fall.  We went to walk a trail, eat a breakfast at the Waffle House (hadn’t had that “joy” since I was a kid), and visit a pumpkin patch on the first Saturday with beautiful weather.

061 - CopyThis is take 2, hence Josiah’s lack of interest.  Take 1 was a side view of my 8 month pregnant self and I looked massive :)

And these two walked through our yard one morning.  We often have deer walk through, but we don’t have bucks very often and these hung around awhile giving the boys a thrill.002 - Copy005 - CopyHave I ever mentioned that we love living here? :)

July 4th!

Trying to catch up on some blogging…

The 4th of July was pretty low key for us this year.  We learned last year that heading over to the fireworks after work to get a spot and wait till the started with two young kids, was WAY to much for the parents :)  This year we went home to eat, put them down for a nap while we popped popcorn and got a few things together, then got them up to go.  It worked out perfectly and the boys loved their special snacks from home while they watched the fireworks.  Josiah loved it and while Elijah insisted on sitting a little farther back in the car, he did say “Wow!” and “OOOO” much of the way through.

The next day was actually the 4th and we didn’t do too much except a little meal at Mom’s with Jesse and Savannah, then they came over to swim.  We got to bed early!

Moment of Sweetness

Today I was helping Elijah wash his hands in the bathroom and could hear Joshua fussing as he woke from his nap.  I asked Josiah to go to him and talk softly to him.  Next thing I knew, I heard Josiah singing “Jesus Loves Me” over the monitor and Joshua was no longer fussing.  When he finished, Elijah and I snuck in the nursery.  Joshua was just looking up at him peacefully from his crib and I asked Josiah to keep going, but he became shy and refused, so I suggested we all sing it to Joshua.  I hope to never forget sweetly singing “Jesus Loves Me” together with my big boys looking down at their little brother.

Two Months Of Sweetness

Joshua is two months old.  At this age, I guess there’s not too much to report except that he’s been busy growing and smiling.  I can’t believe he’s left his newborn days behind and is growing into such a chunk.  He has beautiful eyes and such a great smile that you can’t help but return it when you see it.  I forgot how wonderful those early smiles are.

001 - CopyI haven’t gotten that perfect picture of a smile yet, but this is pretty cute anyway.

231 - CopySurprise!

We’ve had a bit of a rough month between Christmas, sickness (not his, thankfully, but all of the rest of us), increased fussing by Joshua, and the normal night waking of a baby.  I took him to the doctor before Christmas because he suddenly started having periods of inconsolable crying and general fussiness.  After a few hours at the pediatrician for some tests (his history indicated some concerns), he seemed healthy aside from some prolonged jaundice.  The fussing nearly resolved until we travelled for Christmas, then, unless he was sleeping, he fussed almost constantly while we were away.  This meant he didn’t get to do much visiting.  It resolved again once we were home and back in a stable routine.

006 - CopyWe saw this face a lot over Christmas

249 - CopyI’ve got my eye on you!

At this point, Joshua is sleeping between 4-6 hours at a time at night.  It seems that no matter what time his last feeding is, he wakes around 3:30AM to eat, then usually not again until we are all up around 7:30AM.  I’m enjoying the routine, but I’m looking forward to a whole night of sleep!

253 - CopyTummy time makes me sleepy.

One last thing of note…Joshua has been trying his thumb on for size.  Just in the last few days he’s really been trying to get and hold his thumb in his mouth.  We are hoping he’s successful so we don’t have to keep up with the paci anymore.

Each person in our family has completely fallen for our little man.  When I asked Jacob what I should include in this post about him, all he said was “just say that he’s sweet”.  That pretty much sums it up.  We all love him to bits and we have to remind the boys not to smother him.  Aside from the above mentioned phase, he’s been really easy going.
