40 Plus Weeks

I had my post due date OB appointment yesterday and everything is still going well.  Though I’m progressed compared to a “normal” persons standards, I haven’t progressed much past last week’s check and it’s pretty normal for me.  With all the Braxton Hicks activity I’ve had for the past week, I’m pretty surprised that this was the case, but oh well, I’m content to wait.  There was more talk about induction for medical purposes, but I’ll write more about that later.

As for the checkup, I continue to gain weight (of course!) and Joshua’s heart rate was back up in the 130’s, so that made me happy.  If I make it another week, a thought that blows my mind, Dr. Million will do another ultrasound to just check that all is well.

Meanwhile, Jacob, the planner, waits on pins and needles.  After about 5 days of hesitancy to be away from me and doing lots of work at home, he is getting stir crazy enough that he braved going to check his bees this afternoon which took him away from home for 2 hours in a direction away from the hospital.  Gasp!  I feel sorry for him knowing that he needs to get me to the hospital ASAP when I go into labor and feeling helpless in making a plan for that.

Josiah is also on pins and needles of excitement.  It seems if Jacob has to answer his questions one more time about when we are going to the hospital or when Joshua will arrive, then he might just explode :)  Josiah is very excited about who will be visiting him when it happens, which he thinks should happen “after naps” on a daily basis.  Then there’s the “babies”.  The boys, especially Elijah, have been obsessive about playing with their babies.  Yesterday we had to put diapers on their babies and they played with them in the tent we made in the living room.  They did it boy-style, though, because they protected them from animals with guns while wearing camo vests.

So, we’re just waiting, getting some rest, and trying to have some fun with it.  Eventually we’ll meet Joshua face to face.
