36 Week Checkup

This week we had our 36.5 week OB appointment, which is the first of a weekly series that says I’m in the final stretch.  We had perfectly orchestrated our morning to make sure Jacob was there and the boys were not because this is the appointment for the final ultrasound.  Sadly, my OB had an emergency with her dog (I get it), so they squeezed us in with an ultrasound technician who had no bedside manner and didn’t give us any pictures.  It was pretty much “everything looks great” but no ceremony or talking her way through it, though we were obviously happy he appears healthy.  She did say he’s measuring right on and that his head isn’t big (I had asked because Josiah’s was HUGE).  Oh, and he’s definitely a boy!

Then, the OB who delivered Elijah peeked in to see us and make sure we didn’t have questions.  She’s a little crazy in a good way and left us cracking up, which I also remember to be the case in the delivery room.  She asked if we have plans for our older boys when this one comes “because I don’t think it will even last 2 hours”, and while we had thought about it, it still had a bit of a bewildering affect on us.  Apparently she remembers us from last time.  So, now after discussing it, we have a plan A ,B, C, D, E, and F :) and the appropriate people around town have been contacted.  Worst case scenario, she said we can bring them with us, which totally mortifies Jacob!  To this point I’ve mostly just thought about if and how I can get there in time and only briefly thought of the boys.

I have the feeling that next week’s appointment will be the start of a long waiting game until Joshua’s arrival, as it was with Elijah.  We shall see!
