Survey Question

How long should a person (ie. me) wait after having a baby before going through their closet and trashing everything that doesn't fit? I'm tired of having nothing to wear, but don't want to jump the gun on buying new (bigger) stuff since my old stuff is perfectly good and the budget is limited. I think I try things on once a month, just to see. I can finally zip up every pair of pants, but that doesn't make them pretty! Oh...what a dilemma.

Suzanne shared with me some very encouraging news once. Around 4/5 months things start tightening up again. I could zip up my pants around 5 months where I couldn't before. I would say give it about 5/6 months. I still am hanging on to about 10lbs and that's put me up a size so I just bought a few things. Hoping when I start chasing Luke around the house I'll loose those but not counting on it. Hope this helps. Have some diapers for you and we'll hopefully see you in a bit.

I was back to normal size at 5 months. I think the thing that helped was going back to work and being on my feet more instead of staring at my beautiful baby all day while she slept on my chest. I bought 2 pairs of shorts that were the next size up just so I didn't have to wear maternity pants for the first few months. It was worth every penny

Well....I'm still waiting...I haven't lost my 'baby' pounds, yet...and it's been awhile since Annie was a baby!! Hope this isn't discouraging... :) Actually, I DID loose them, due to a thyroid malfunction, but they returned at a later date!! :)

I am almost 9 months out and halfway down . . . but not finished yet (but I was HUGE before delivery -- no thanks to the pre-eclamp). What I have done is to buy a few sets from Goodwil to get me through so I don't say the heck with it, and I also don't throw a fit everytime we want to go somewhere that I can't wear jeans. My goal is by July 4 -- we'll see :-)

Abby, I have no advise whatsoever, except that I was noticing today that you look GREAT!

they say it take 9 months to gain them, expect it to take 9 months to get rid of them. no dieting while nursing that baby!!! and it is physiologic about the hips shrinking back (closing - whatever)...it takes months and i think even longer when you nurse. you are a go getter and i am sure the fact you can't just decide to get rid of them will make it harder... hang in there!
