First Vaccines and First Mother’s Day

Last week Josiah went to the doctor again. He weighed in at 11 lb 14 oz and he got a clean bill of health. He also got his first vaccines. It wasn’t too traumatic – a little cry and it was over. However, he slept the rest of the day and would barely eat. The next day he barely ate or slept and was cranky which was a mixed blessing because that night he slept for 6 hours!

Before Josiah was born, I was so worried that something would be wrong with him and I prayed constantly for his health and development. During my labor and right after delivery that was all I could think about (of course the pain caught some of my attention too!). I had heard about so many couples around me at that time that had severely sick babies and I was heartbroken for them and nervous for my own. Josiah has been healthy and an incredibly happy and content baby and I have been so thankful. But I didn’t realize how thankful I was and what a blessing it is until he was cranky and miserable after his vaccines. God has truly blessed us in so many ways!

We had another great weekend. On Saturday morning, I went to the Patsy Cook Mother’s Day Brunch at church along with my mom, sister in law, Star, and her mom, Linda. We had a good time. That evening we went to the park for a cookout with our awesome Sunday School class for yet another good time. We always have good conversation and lots of laughs. (I’m still a bad parent and blogger because I didn’t get pictures of either event…oh well).

On Mother’s Day my entire family and Jacob’s parents joined us at church for Josiah’s dedication. (I do have pictures AND video of this!) Afterwards we had a cookout at our house with lots of good food to celebrate the occasion. I think we had WAY too many deserts. I really enjoyed our family’s company and it made for a great Mother’s Day. It’s been awhile since we’ve laughed and enjoyed each other like that.

I know most people are not all that interested in some of this stuff, but since I use this blog as sort of a scrapbook and diary of our lives, I write it anyway. I hope you at least enjoy parts of it!

The Dedication

Oh how sweet! Happy belated Mothers Day Abby! I thought of you all as we sat at my mom's church and watched their baby dedication and figured you were prob up at our church at that very moment. We are just so thankful that Josiah is here and part of our church fam, I wish I could have been their for that special day. Was Luke dedicated too? Congrats again, so glad you had a wonderful mommy's day! Luke is a very blessed boy to have you as his mommy. =)

I'm glad Josiah (and you) survived the shots! He is such a great baby, I still don't think I've heard him cry! You guys are such a cute little family :)
