We planned to build the house so close to our mobile home that we had to remove the front porch to make it happen. For some reason we have six acres yet we had to build a matter of feet away :) What can we say, the view is great!
Granny and Papa came to help us on August 23rd with the task of preparing to break ground. Not only did we have to remove the front porch, but we also had to take down our split rail fence (along with the Christmas lights that still adorned it – I’m way behind this year!) and dig up several plants that we wanted to transplant.
Moving some plants:
Stacking up fence rails:
Removing the porch:
After cutting and detaching the tin roof and rafters, they used the bobcat to lift it and pull it away.
Then, after a lot of cutting and tugging, they hauled away the floor of the porch. It was so heavy that Papa had to stand on the back of the bobcat to keep the rear wheels on the ground!
We have hard working big boys, don’t ya think? Joshua hung out in the stroller, slept, and ate while I bounced around between tending to him, laundry, and helping outside.

Not sure what we are doing at playgrounds when you have all this fun stuff going on at your house ;) Looks like the boys are having fun helping :)
