Josiah had a fantastic 5 year checkup. He was so smiley, cooperative, and happy to be there. It was such a positive experience that Dr. Worthington asked if he always had this happy and cooperative disposition. Um, no, but I know he has it in him. I just need to figure out how to consistently bring it out. Unfortunately, the morning of the appointment he woke with a fever, so it partially turned into a sick visit and she found he had a sinus infection. Lucky him…this meant we put off vaccines. Overall, however, he is the picture of health and is developing wonderfully and is a nice weight and height, which is a relief given his history. The visit made me beyond proud. Here’s his stats:
Weight 42.5# 60th percentile!
Height 43” 55th percentile
Unfortunately, Josiah was prescribed antibiotics for his infection but the following day he started vomiting (all over my couch and carpet, no less). Elijah had done the same thing the week before; fever, sinus infection, antibiotics, vomiting, then pink eye. Sure enough, a couple days later Josiah had pink eye. His fevers nearly reached 105, so that was a first for us in parenting and we let him sleep with us that night which he thought was great. This was all during what was supposed to be a fun spring break. Oh well, at least he didn’t miss a week of school. Sadly, Jacob has followed the same sick process this week. I’m hoping Joshua and I aren’t next!
Oh, and he didn’t even cry for his finger prick blood draw! (This is in stark contrast to his complete tantrum for his flu vaccine last fall, however that was my fault since I had told him ahead of time he’d get the nose spray so they sprung the needle on him…oops!)
