Yet again I failed to take pictures of everyday life throughout the month, so we did a quick photo shoot to mark his 4th month.
Joshua is growing way too fast! He’s just trucking along and is already through 1/3 of his first year! He’s met a few milestones this month and has had one long rough patch, too. We love having Mr. Smiley around and he’s added a whole new happy component to our lives. Each one of us is in love.
Jacob has more hair than one member of our family. More teeth, too!
Nearly two weeks shy of four months, Joshua started rolling over from back to front. I love that stage! I think the way babies lay on their sides to play and waffle between front and back is so cute. Joshua has also found his feet. It’s particularly cute when he grabs hold of them and rolls side to side! He’s great at holding a toy to play with/chew on, but he’s still working on reaching out to grab something. Joshua’s favorite chew toy is still his fingers, though. He decided to not become a thumb sucker after all, but decided he loves gnawing on them all.
Josiah is convinced that Joshua loves this frog and he’s constantly giving it to him. Who knows, maybe it’s true.
I’m not sure why, but I love this picture!
Mmmm…toes. Soon I’m going to get them in my mouth.
Our sleep problems have persisted this month. He continues to have short naps and the majority of the time he still wakes once a night to eat. I’m missing his consistent long naps and sleeping through the night. It’s been too long! :) The poor guy has a great excuse, though, given the fact that we are so busy and he’s always just along for the ride. I feel like I rarely have the opportunity to focus on a routine for him. I just know that next month I’ll be reporting improvement in this area, though!
Additionally, I failed to help Joshua learn to fall asleep on his own like I did with his big brothers, but this is because he has been so quick and easy to get to sleep. From the time that he gained some control of his head, he’d quickly tuck his face nearly into my armpit and fall asleep almost instantaneously. This meant if I wanted any cuddle time at all, then I had to do it while he slept. I couldn’t help but think his easy way was so cute and so I allowed it. Now I wonder if I created his issue with staying asleep, so we’ll be working on that this month. Wish me luck!
Look at the drool in these last two pictures. It might not be too long before I’m reporting the arrival of teeth.
Joshua has the greatest open mouthed smile. Each of us loves to be rewarded with one and we don’t even have to work too hard for them. He seems to have a special affinity for Josiah. This could be a direct result to Josiah’s definite love for him and the fact that he gives him a lot of face time entertaining him and helping him when he’s upset.
Joshua’s four month pediatrician appointment showed Joshua to be healthy (no excuse for poor sleep!) except that he’s fallen off his growth curve a bit. After some questioning, we decided he’s just not a big eater, as I already knew. I’m afraid we’ll have another picky eater, though Elijah was this way but was able to maintain himself on it nicely. So, we’ll be working on that. He got three vaccines (one oral) and he did much better than last time and barely cried.
Height 25 inches 50th percentile
Weight 13# 12 oz 25th percentile
Head 41 cm 25th percentile
He may be little but look at him sit up!
We’re all excited to see what the next month brings for Joshua. He’s developing into his own little self and it is fun to watch it unfold. He’s so snuggly and as sweet as can be. I happen to think he’s cute, too!
