This year Josiah was old enough to participate in the derby car races as part of Shark Attack Sunday for Ocean Adventures. Ocean Adventures is the kids church program on Sunday nights. They send the kids home with a block of wood, two axels, and 4 wheels and they (or the dads!) work to make it into a derby car. Josiah enjoyed tinkering with the tools and paint, but he didn’t really care about it turning out to be a car. Jacob, however, took it way too seriously and became frustrated about how the provided wheels were working out :) Anyway, Josiah’s car wasn’t the fastest, but it was far from the slowest, too, so we were all happy.
Josiah is in that phase where he can’t possibly just look at the camera and smile a normal smile, but here are my attempts to get a picture of him with his car:
The track the cars raced on. It was actually pretty cool since it was all automated and flashed the results up on the big screen instantaneously.
Josiah’s is 2nd from the left.
His was so fast it was a blur! :) Actually all the pictures are blurry because I was trying to hold Elijah and take pictures at the same time.
Popcorn was the best part of the night, according to Josiah.
Awards. Josiah also loved being up on stage. He was so proud of himself for that alone!
I’m a little behind on my blogging, as this happened back in early April. It was my birthday, in fact…just exactly what I wanted to do to celebrate!
