Waiting Game

Thanks to the people who let me know you are praying for Josiah.  Just to let you know, the blood draw went well.  (Sigh of relief)  Much more smoothly than last time.  I should have asked, however, what you moms recommend about preparing a preschooler for that.  I tried to prepare him, but next time I think I’d just surprise him.  The nurse said that was usually best, too.  He cooperated because he is generally well behaved, but he made it clear he dreaded it beforehand and he cried most of the way through, which I’d expect either way.  So, in case we face more diagnostics, what do you guys think?  What would you do?

Now I just need one more (of 4 total!) stool samples, and off to the lab we go!  :)

Yeah, I don't think I would tell him beforehand but then Luke always asks anyway and I don't want to lie. I just promise suckers, candy whatever they want and keep them focused on that as much as possible. So glad it went better. Praying for answers quickly.

I know, there is a balance between helping them know what is coming and avoiding having them dreading it.
Sounds like now you might know what is best for Josiah.
Though we needed Essie to be expecting to eat that egg. She did it like a champ!

Praying for you all!

ONe other thing our pediatrician told me was that the closer you get to age 4/5 the more kids dread things. So stick with surprises for a while. She was referencing immunizations. Apparently there is one you can get at the 4yr check up or 5yr and for the above reason she suggests the 4yr. She says the 5yrs talk it all up at school and get the younger kids freaked out. :)
