Birthdays, Family Reunion, CatNip and Randomness

I spent the first part of last week in mourning because Josiah suddenly decided to completely stop cuddling with me.  He was always willing to cuddle before naps and bedtime after reading a book.  I have always loved it an never took it for granted because I realized it would come to an end sooner or later, but I wasn’t prepared for a sudden stop.  I assumed this was a side effect of weaning even though he never ate before naps.  Thankfully, later in the week he resumed the cuddling just as suddenly as he stopped.  I’m not sure what that was all about, but  I was so relieved (as I’m sure Jacob was because I did my fair share of whining about it).  It looks like I have my little sweetie back for a little while, at least.  (This week he is sick and VERY cuddly.  Despite the being sick part, I’m secretly enjoying it!)

Last Thursday was Jacob’s 29th birthday.  We celebrated with a fabulous (if I do say so myself) homemade meal and a hot fudge cake with mint chocolate chip ice cream (just think warm chocolate mixed with cold mint – such a perfect mixture!) that took us 4 days to eat.  I’m salivating just thinking about it!

Mmmm…anyway…on Saturday we went to Jacob’s family reunion in Arcadia and then continued to celebrate birthdays that evening.  We had four birthdays on my side of the family to celebrate, so on our way home from Arcadia, we stopped by my grandparent’s house for a birthday meal.

On Sunday, I played hookie and skipped church to participate in Operation CatNip, an organization that spays and neuters feral cats in Alachua County.  It was good therapy for someone who hasn’t been able to participate much in the field of their passion in over a year.

It was a tiring weekend and I’m ready for another one already!  Too bad this one will be crazy, too!

One quick funny story about Josiah.  I took Josiah’s diaper off to give his little rear end some time to air out and get rid of some irritation.  He was standing next to the couch while I was on the phone and I heard “plop plop plop” and I turned to see him looking down at three soft terds between his legs and behind him with one leg raised.   Before I could stop him he stepped down into it.  It stuck to his foot so he shook his leg until it flung off.  Maybe this isn’t funny when you read it, but it had me laughing!  I ran and put him on his potty (we aren’t actually training, just sitting on it every now and then) and he looked at me like I was crazy for thinking there could be more.

032See the milk on his nose?  He likes to play with the straw on his sippy cup and it inevitably splatters something or someone.  It surprises him every time it gets him.

Love the poop story. So glad others have experienced the diaperless toddler too. He just gets cuter. Thanks for reminding me to cherish those cuddles too.

I can't believe he's so big! He looks ornery enough to hang with the Borges' boys. We have got to get together!

Happy Birthday Jacob. 29...wow!
love that Josiah up! I don't know how moms do it without having cuddle time. I might be like that crazy kid's book mom that goes in after they are sleeping and rock them, stalk them when they move across town and climb into their house through a window and rock them. So her problem must have been a noncuddling child. Do you remember the book I am referencing? Hope so. :)
