Watch For Falling Acorns!

I wrote this a few weeks ago…

Fall is in the air and it has been invigorating.  It seems like the weather suddenly transitioned from hot to cool without the usual waffling back and forth.  It’s been so nice to spend some time outside with the boys without them being quite so bug bitten and sweaty with dirt sticking to that sweat.  We’ve been able to enjoy all of our property without frying in the sun and I am loving it!  I used to love summer and dread winter, so the spring was my favorite season as things come to life and the promise of warmth was in the air.  Now that I deal with my two little men, I live for the cool weather and fall seems full of promise of what adventures my wonderful little family will experience together in the coming months.  It makes me feel hopeful.  I realize that is a bit silly, but hey, who doesn’t like to feel good?  I’ll take it!

So far we’ve enjoyed some pumpkin patch time, 2 fall festivals, pumpkin carving and decorating, a few park visits, 3 picnics, more walks & power wheels jeep rides than you could count, 2 hotdog roasts over a campfire, and a Daddy and Josiah camp out in the front yard.  And there is more fun to come!

One annoying/funny thing about this season, depending on your mood at the moment, is the massive numbers of acorns falling on our non-insulated porch tin roof.  It is SO loud!  The porch is very close to Elijah’s room, in particular, and while it doesn’t seem to bother him, it always sounds incredibly loud when we are at that precarious moment between wakefulness and sleep, especially since we have just weaned him from his pacifier.  It makes me cringe.  When it first started Josiah was constantly asking, “what WAS that?!”

Have a great fall!

What fun family time! We actually finally set up our tent in the back yard, but after a few nights of nights making it out to sleep in it, we took it down. Maybe that will happen next time.. and then we'll venture to a campground! :)
