We went to Granny and Papa’s for a weekend visit a few weekends ago. We enjoyed visiting the Hunsader Pumpkin Festival, an annual festival we grew up going to on a large farm down home, and then had fun on the farm Papa works on. We then rushed back for some trick-or-treating here in Gainesville (a post of its own).
Josiah got to “drive” Papa’s truck on the farm as we drove to put some bee hives at the back of the farm. Then we stopped for a little orange pickin’. Granny, Papa, Mikayla, Josiah, Elijah, and I were all in the cab of the truck! Daddy sat in the back with the bees.
Getting three kids to cooperate for a picture all at once. Then it gets a little silly:
Riding in the back of the truck back to the house.
Elijah spent some time in the back of the truck with the kids and Jacob, too, but it was too chilly for him. Instead he looked out the back window and laughed “Daddy!” the whole time.
Then came a trip to Hunsader’s Fall Pumpkin Festival. This is the place to go in our hometown in the fall.
Checking out the wooden trucks and tractors. We left with one in each boys’ hands, courtesy Granny and Papa.
This boy can catch some air in a bounce house! He nailed a few of these clown heads to win some tickets for a prize. He has great aim and is learning to put some force behind it.
Mikayla took a turn, too. She has amazing force and is working on aim!
Always a curious and eager little boy.
First taste of boiled peanuts. He spit it out. It made me proud…I hate those things!
He’s always collecting sticks and things.
A still picture does not do this talented man justice. He looked so funny riding this stuffed horse on his tall unicycle! It looked like the horse was bucking. I say he was talented because he rode it on rough turf while dodging crowds, all in extreme wind.
We had a great time visiting with Granny and Papa! I think Elijah, in particular, had a blast because he is now getting old enough to fully participate and we haven’t had much chance to do this kind of thing in his lifetime. We can’t wait for another visit and fun times.
