10 Months of sweetness

Joshua is 10 months old!  I can’t believe he is approaching one year so quickly.  It seems impossible.  He’s such a noisy, funny guy who has a definite affinity for males, though how can he not considering our family make up?  His physical abilities are blossoming while his teeth are still lacking and his sleeping skills, while improved, leave something to be desired.  He has the greatest laugh and I love his sweetness.

Our little man still has a gummy smile.  He has yet to have a tooth break through, though for the last few days he’s been very fussy and not eating well.  Since he appears healthy enough, we are on the lookout for those teeth.

Joshua has really started cruising along furniture and he’s started to become a good climber.  We had a phase where he’d constantly climb out of his high chair.  No matter how tight we tried to strap him in he figured out how to move his hips to get free.  I think he finally decided it was too much work and stopped.  He’s also nearly impossible to hold onto as he treats the person holding him as a jungle gym.  He’s always on the move!  He’s a pro at standing assisted and can do it unassisted for a few seconds before he realizes it and lowers himself to the floor.

For the most part Joshua’s sleeping habits have been steadily improving, but he’s still starting to cry out around 6am every morning, though he often quiets and rests for the next 30 to 45 minutes just crying out here and there.  It’s a rude awakening when we don’t have to get up and a nuisance while we try to get ready for work, but oh well.  He’s been waking up from every nap crying, as well, ever since he’s started this fussy period.  This too shall pass (we hope!).  At least he puts himself to sleep easily and he’s my first baby that will easily fall asleep on me, too, and I’ve enjoyed that from day one.  So cuddly!

Joshua really loves men, especially his Daddy!  When he sees Jacob has come home, he starts this unique fussing/happy noise and flails his body as he only does for Jacob.  He wears a distressed expression until Jacob takes him, then he smiles and settles in.  It’s pretty cute.  Also, multiple times a day the entire family seems to have a singular goal to get him laughing as much as possible.  He’s going to be spoiled!

070 - CopyEven the cat likes him and seeks him out.

Our wild man is super noisy, too.  He likes to scream at the top of his lungs just to hear himself.  Thankfully he’s over it now, but he had a phase of screaming through dinner, not in a tantrum sort of way, but just because.  He doesn’t really make any attempts at words or signs, but admittedly, as the 3rd kid we probably don’t encourage it like we should.  We’ll have to get on that!

Joshua is a well loved little guy and he’s just cruising through his babyhood.  I can hardly fathom this phase being over, yet we happily move forward towards the next thing.  He’s his own little man who has hair like Elijah, yet somehow looks like Josiah to us to make his own unique combination that makes my heart melt.
