This will embarrass Josiah one day, but I’ve kept up with his GI troubles on this blog for well over 2 years and I think they have finally come to an end, which makes us beyond happy, so blogging it seems appropriate. Here’s the major milestone:
Josiah has been completely off Miralax for a few weeks!
Despite his pediatrician’s efforts to help us find other solutions, he had been on it for over 2 years and struggled for a year before that (retrospectively, it was since birth, but I didn’t recognize it as a new mom and just figured he had normal baby tummy issues). We’ve tried to slowly taper the dose and discontinue it a handful of times before without him being aware of it, but each time he’d complain of frequent stomach aches and start having accidents. And maybe it was just us, but he sure seemed grumpier :) I’m not sure what has changed, but we’ll take it! The stomach aches and accidents appear to be a thing of the past. Hopefully it is not just a phase, which is what I’m scared of since I know it has been such a chronic problem, but maybe his poor little GI system just needed some maturity and support along the way.
Please pray we can leave that in our past.
