First Doctor’s Appointment

Elijah had his first official doctor’s appointment Wednesday.  He was 7 lb 12 oz at birth and 20.5 inches and 7 lb 8 oz at discharge from the hospital.  At the appointment he was only an ounce shy of that birth weight, so he seems to be doing well.  Somehow I missed getting the paper with his other stats (head measurement and percentages), so that will have to come later.  Everything checked out fine except that it looked like he has a mild staph infection in one armpit, so we are started a topical medicine for that and it cleared up very quickly if it was that at all.

We discussed his eating and sleeping habits as I have to wake him for every feeding.  He is such a good sleeper that we have been able to get reasonable amounts of sleep every night averaging 6-8 hours, depending on when we make it to bed.  Hopefully that trend continues.   She said to just let him sleep about 4 hours at a time at night and then focus on more frequent feedings during the day, since he is gaining weight nicely.  He is very good about just going back to sleep after feedings, but it takes awhile to feed him because he is difficult to rouse, so I still lose about an hour each time.  He’s such a great little content man!
