Exciting Weekend

This post ended up much longer than intended, but hang in there because there is a nice surprise in the end!

This weekend Josiah’s cousin Savannah came for a visit. She stayed with Grandma, but as usual we caught up with them for some playtime.

On Saturday after a morning nap for Josiah and some shopping at the ever practical WalMart for me, Grandma, and Savannah (where we “spent all of Grandma’s money”) we headed out to the Alachua Splash Park. Last year Josiah was too young to participate, but Savannah had a blast. This year, Josiah was a little unsure and bewildered by all of the activity at first, but he ended up having fun, too! Of course we followed up with ice cream at Conestogas – the best part of the day if you ask me!

041 - CopyHe’s all boy…doesn’t he look like he’s about to blow a “snot rocket”? (I only know what that is because I was raised with boys!)

DSCN3140 Such a cutie pie! One little girl at the Splash Park kept calling her “flower".

023 - Copy 030 - CopyI’m sure there are worse things in the world to drink, but I was a little grossed out that he kept wanting to drink this water that I’m sure is reclaimed.

Next came naptime for all and then playtime at Grandma’s while we made a spaghetti dinner. Josiah and Savannah had fun playing with the water table toy and blocks, then they laughed all through dinner.

By Sunday we were all beat, but Savannah and Josiah managed to keep us all laughing because of their crazy giggling in the car and Savannah teaching Josiah to fake a sneeze. After church they made an even bigger mess at the water table (requiring 2 changes of clothing) and were really learning how to play together as cousins. It was so much fun to watch. Supposedly Josiah chose this time to take his first steps. I say supposedly because the little guy didn’t bother to wait until the person who cares for him 24/7 was looking! Can you believe it? I’ve seen him take one step on his own a few times, but it was always because I cheated and let him go. This time he “supposedly” let go and walked 4-5 steps on his own – not once, but twice! Both times were to get to Savannah. Maybe he just needed something more exciting to go towards all this time. Anyway, I’m still not sure I believe it, but Jacob and Mom insist on it. We’ll see.

Ok, so all of the above was written early in the afternoon…now I have witnessed Josiah’s skills and happened to have my camera in tow. See for yourself in the video following these pictures!
